The moniker of strokedatshit was inspired by a video depicting multiple young black males playing NBA 2k, when an unc suddenly appears and utters the phrase "That's what I'm saying, stroke that thing bro" much to the chagrin of the young men playing the videogame. The earliest known usage of the name "strokedatshit444" itself can be dated to July 8th of 2024 in a direct message thread between Van and his friend, who goes by the online username "SUNSHINE".
